The Next Step

If you have confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repented from your sins and committed to live your life in conformity to His will,  here is what you should do next:

Buy a Bible

You need to know more about your Lord and Savior and the Christian faith. I recommend that you start out with a modern translation like the English Standard Version (ESV) or the New American Standard Bible (NASB).

Read Your Bible

I don’t recommend starting at Genesis. Most people find the Old Testament to be too challenging to start with.

Start with the book of John, then read Acts and then Romans. That will give you an excellent introduction to the New Testament.

As you grow, you can move on to the other books of the New Testament and to the Old Testament.

Here are some excellent Bible reading plans: http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/devotions/

Become a Student of the Bible

Study the Bible carefully and reverently using the best study tools that you can find.

Fellowship

Begin to fellowship with other believers in formal and informal settings. Find a good Bible study. Worship with a local congregation that shares your beliefs and commitments.  Study their statement of beliefs and make sure that they conform to essential doctrines  of the Christian faith such as the the authority and inerrancy of the Word of God, the Trinity, the virgin birth, the Deity of Jesus Christ, His resurrection from the dead, His second coming, the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit, etc.

Be Baptized

Water baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace and a way that you can publicly confess your faith. (Romans 6)

Pray

Prayer is nothing more than communication with God. You can do it anywhere, anytime.

Walk With Jesus

He is our example. We should try to exemplify Him in our daily lives. We should submit totally to His Lordship.
